FAQs

  • The result is instantaneous and produces a long-lasting, natural enhancement, gentle and safe to your skin. Hydration continues to improve over the following few days post treatment.

  • It usually lasts for 9-18 months, after which you may have a top up procedure, which normally involves using less of the product, otherwise it is fully biodegradable and will naturally break down over time.

  • We strive for a natural looking result via subtle improvements. Friends may comment that you look refreshed but treatment will not radically alter your appearance; it will simply reduce lines and wrinkles. It can be dissolved in the unlikely event of you not liking the result.

  • Immediately after treatment, there may be slight redness, swelling, tenderness and an itching sensation in the treated area. This is a normal result of the injection. The inconvenience is temporary and generally disappears in a few days. If it continues or if other reactions occur, please call us. Slight swelling and redness at the injection site can be covered with mineral make up. Lip swelling may take up to a week to settle, but normally subsides after three days. Bruising can occur as with any injections but this is usually minimal and can be covered effectively with make up.

You must mention to your practitioner if you are taking any blood thinning medications i.e. aspirin or warfarin as one would be at higher risk of bruising. Any persistent redness or swelling should be reported, as very occasionally a minor skin infection can develop but this is easily treated. Very rarely vessel occlusion can occur, this will be fully explained to you on consultation and consent to treatment.

As mentioned, there may be a little swelling post procedure, you can apply ice packs for a few minutes to settle this. The initial swelling after lip treatment may last a few days. Some patients experience swelling for about a week and the lips can look somewhat uneven during this time. This means that the results directly after the treatment should not be seen as the final result.

Avoid touching the treatment area 6 hours after the treatment. After that, the area can be gently washed with soap and water and light make-up can be applied. If you have previously suffered from facial cold sores, there is a risk that the needle punctures could contribute to another eruption of cold sores. We can offer prophylactic medication to prevent this. If you are taking aspirin, vitamin e or any blood thinning agents, be aware that these may increase the bruising and bleeding at the injection site. Let your practitioner know if you are taking them and discontinue use of them 2 weeks prior to having the treatment. No alcohol for 2 days prior to treatment.

  • Pregnant and breast feeding women. Anyone who has an infection at the proposed injection site. Anyone with a history of an allergic reaction to hyaluronic acid.

  • Yes of course. The free consultation is for you to find out if the treatment is suitable for you. We discuss what you are aiming to achieve and how best to achieve that. You can then go away and consider your options. There is no obligation to book a treatment.

  • Avoid touching the treated area for 6 hours following treatment

Avoid saunas and sun beds the day of the procedure

Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours

Do not apply make-up on the day of the procedure

Do not massage unless advised by your clinician

A cool pack maybe gently applied to the treated area

About Dermal Fillers

By boosting the skin's supply of hyaluronic acid, dermal fillers revitalise and add volume to the skin, instantly diminishing the appearance of lines and wrinkles, and giving a natural lifted look. Dermal fillers are a soft injectable gel consisting of stabilized, non-animal hyaluronic acid. The gel is tissue-friendly and closely resembles the hyaluronic acid that exists naturally in the body. It is long-lasting but not permanent. We use a non-animal based hyaluronic acid from Teosyal, or Juvederm which have a proven track record in facial aesthetics in safety and efficacy and avoids the need for allergy testing.

Injected into the dermal layer of the skin, fillers effectively alleviate the hyaluronic deficiency- revitalising and rehydrating the skin, filling in wrinkles and fine lines as well as adding volume and definition to the lips and cheeks. It lasts between 9-18 months depending on the type of filler used, after which you can have a repeat procedure. Otherwise it is fully biodegradable and will naturally break down over time. The gel like solution is injected into the skin to add volume and creates a more youthful appearance, increasing moisture content by absorbing 1000 x its weight in water.
